The conference series entitled "Euro-Mediterranean Conference on Materials and Renewable Energies" (EMCMRE) was launched in 2011 with the aim to strengthen the relationships between material scientists from Europe and countries on the south and east sides of the Mediterranean Sea.  Since then we have broadened the participation of scientists, with speakers coming from the USA, Japan, China and Australia. During the 5 first editions of the conference, a number of students have presented their work, and were able to connect with scientists for opportunities for internships, PhDs and postdoctoral fellowships.

The scientific topics of the EMCMRE conference are revised each year to offer a program of relevance to participants from countries around the Mediterranean Sea. Priority is given to novel problems using state of the art experimental techniques as well as advanced theoretical and computational approaches for materials science. For instance, a new session “Power to X” will be introduced during the upcoming conference, to reflect the key role Morocco is playing in this field.

The topics of the EMCMRE conference encompasses several branches of physics, chemistry, biology and computer science relevant to renewable energies. The targeted audience includes professors, and researchers and engineers from universities, engineering schools and research institutes. While the conference will include oral and poster presentations as well as plenary and keynote presentations given by high profile scientists, the program is crafted to have a special emphasis on the participation of PhD and master students from both sides of the Mediterranean Sea. The organizing committee works closely with students in their preparation of conference abstracts, posters and presentations. In addition, during this upcoming edition, small student sessions will be offered to discuss careers in science and engineering, and topics relevant to a successful transition to the job market. In addition, this edition will propose a program emphasizing the participation of Women in Engineering, Science and Technology (WEST) from across the world.
